Wellness & Spiritual Retreats in India — 7 and 14 Days in Pushkar, Uttarakhand and Udupi

Wellness and spiritual retreats in India — 7 and 14 day programmes.

You are not browsing holidays. You are at the point where you dread Monday by Saturday afternoon, where you snap at people who did nothing, where you cannot remember the last time you were properly rested — and where taking a week for yourself feels like something you have to justify to everybody, including yourself.

You do not have to justify it. Exhaustion is a reason.

Our wellness and spiritual retreats in India run for 7 or 14 days, away from the city — in Pushkar, in the Himalayan foothills of Uttarakhand, and on the coast at Udupi. Not at our Jaipur centre, and deliberately so: leaving your own environment is not a detail of a retreat, it is the active ingredient.

This is a structured programme, not a resort stay. There is a schedule, there is silence, there is early movement, and there is food chosen for how you will feel rather than for photographs. People leave rested — and with a written practice they can keep going at home.

What happens on a 7 or 14 day wellness retreat in India?

A fixed daily rhythm, held for you, so you decide nothing. Early wake, yoga and movement, pranayama, a guided meditation sitting; sattvic meals; an afternoon of silence and rest; nature walks; a one-to-one consultation slot; restorative yoga or yoga nidra in the evening; an early night.

Seven days is our minimum, because the thing a retreat actually does — repaying sleep debt and shifting a nervous system out of months of stress — happens across consecutive nights, not in a weekend. Fourteen days is for people who are genuinely depleted, or who want the practice to be established rather than merely begun. Locations are Pushkar, Uttarakhand and Udupi. Pricing and dates vary by location and programme, so tell us what you are looking for and we will send you the detail.

Where our wellness retreats in India are held

Each location does something different. We will tell you honestly which suits what you are carrying.

Pushkar, Rajasthan

Desert light, early mornings, and one of the oldest continuously inhabited pilgrimage towns in India. Pushkar suits the person who wants stillness and a spiritual register — the quiet is unusually complete, the scale of the place settles people quickly, and it is the easiest of the three to reach from Jaipur and the rest of north India.

Best for: first retreats · spiritual focus · shorter travel from Jaipur and Delhi · people who want quiet rather than scenery

Uttarakhand — the Himalayan foothills

The traditional home of yoga and dhyan, by the river and the forest. This is the location people have usually imagined when they picture a retreat: cold clear mornings, the sound of water, and altitude that changes how you sleep within two nights.

Best for: yoga and meditation depth · people wanting the classical setting · nature and walking · 14-day programmes

Udupi, Karnataka

Coastal Karnataka — warm, green, and a very different pace. Udupi suits people who do better near water and warmth than in cold mountains, and the food tradition here is among the best in India for the kind of eating a retreat uses.

Best for: winter retreats · warmth and sea air · people who find mountains hard · food-led recovery

Location and dates change through the year — mountains in summer, coast and desert in winter. Tell us roughly when you can take the time and we will tell you where we are going.

The 7 and 14 day retreat programmes

7 days — the minimum that works

Enough to repay a real sleep debt, break the phone habit, and learn the practice properly rather than sampling it. Most people are noticeably different by day four and considerably so by day seven.

14 days — for people who are genuinely depleted

The second week is where a retreat stops being a break and becomes a change. The practice becomes automatic rather than instructed, the nervous system holds the new baseline rather than touching it, and the take-home plan is tested in real conditions before you go home to them.

Both run as full-time structured programmes. Not a hotel with optional yoga.

A typical day

Early morningWake, water, outdoor light
Yoga and movement — scaled to every body in the room
Pranayama
Guided meditation sitting
BreakfastSattvic, light
MorningNature walk · or your one-to-one consultation slot
MiddayLunch — the main meal of the day
AfternoonSilence period. Rest, sleep or journaling. Nothing scheduled.
Optional session — talk, breathwork or therapy yoga
EveningRestorative yoga or yoga nidra
DinnerEarly and light
NightGroup sitting, then an early night

Optional means optional. Sleeping through an afternoon session is a legitimate use of a retreat, not a waste of one.

What a wellness retreat in India includes

A held daily schedule. Decision fatigue is part of burnout. For a week or two, nobody asks you what you want to do next.

Daily yoga and movement. Scaled for beginners, stiff desk workers, seniors and injuries. Chair versions available. Nobody is pushed into a posture to look good in a photograph.

Pranayama, twice daily. Breathwork is the fastest route into parasympathetic recovery, which is the physiological point of the days.

Guided meditation sittings. Morning and evening, progressive across the programme — breath awareness first, then body scan and yoga nidra. Most participants are beginners.

Sattvic meals. Simple, seasonal, vegetarian, cooked to be digested easily. Light dinners, early. Jain and no-onion-garlic options available.

Silence periods. A defined stretch each day with no talking and no phone. The part people resist beforehand and name afterwards as what worked.

Nature walks. Early daylight and movement outdoors — both of which do measurable work on your circadian rhythm, not only on your mood.

A one-to-one consultation. Naturopathy and lifestyle, nutrition, or counselling — depending on what you arrived with.

Journaling and reflection. For many people this is the first quiet in months, and what surfaces deserves somewhere to go.

A written take-home plan. What you keep doing from the Monday after: wake time, a short morning sequence, a breath practice, meal timing. The retreat is the reset; this is what makes it last. Magic Mornings exists largely to hold this part for people once they are home.

Wellness retreat pricing in India

Pricing depends on the location, the duration and the accommodation, and it changes through the year, so we quote it individually rather than publishing a figure that would be wrong for most enquiries.

Tell us which location interests you, whether you want 7 or 14 days, how many of you there are and roughly when — and we will send you one all-in figure with everything it covers listed line by line.

What we will not do: quote you a headline price and add things at the venue. The figure you get will say exactly what is in it and what is not.

Who our wellness and spiritual retreats are for

Burnt-out professionals. The core group. Usually arriving at the end of a long stretch, often pushed into it by a partner.

People wanting a spiritual retreat. Pushkar and Uttarakhand both carry that register properly — silence, early mornings, dhyan, and a place with its own weight. No belief is required and nothing is imposed; if you want the spiritual side, it is genuinely there, and if you want only the rest and the yoga, that is equally fine.

Couples. Shared schedule, shared room, and some unhurried time — which is often the real reason couples come.

Solo participants. Common and comfortable. The schedule means there is never an empty stretch to fill with small talk, and the silence periods remove the pressure to socialise.

Corporate and group bookings. A structured team reset rather than a conference with a yoga mat at the end. Tell us the team size and we will design it.

People starting out in yoga and meditation. Seven immersive days teaches more than two months of weekly classes, because you practise fourteen times instead of eight.

Not suitable for: medical detoxification, alcohol or drug withdrawal, acute psychiatric illness, or anything needing clinical supervision. We are a wellness centre, not a hospital, and we will say so at enquiry rather than taking a booking we should not.

The part other centres leave out

What a wellness retreat in India can and cannot do

Realistically:

  • Deep, genuine rest, with sleep usually deepening by the second or third night as sleep debt starts being repaid
  • Burnout symptoms — irritability, dread, fog — easing across consecutive days away from what produced them
  • A reset circadian rhythm you can hold afterwards with a fixed wake time
  • Digestion and appetite settling on simple food at regular times
  • A working practice of yoga and meditation you can actually do alone
  • Perspective on a decision you have not been able to think about clearly
  • On a 14-day programme, a practice that is established rather than merely started

A retreat cannot:

  • Cure any disease or replace treatment. Not diabetes, thyroid, autoimmune conditions or mental illness.
  • Replace medication. Bring everything prescribed to you and keep taking it exactly as prescribed.
  • Detoxify anyone from alcohol or drugs. That is medical and dangerous to attempt at a retreat — see addiction support in Jaipur.
  • Treat acute psychiatric illness or a mental health crisis. Please get clinical care first.
  • Fix the situation you are returning to. It changes your capacity to face it, which is often enough for you to change the situation yourself.
  • Last on its own. Without the daily practice afterwards, the effect fades and you return to your old baseline.

We will not claim detoxification, cleansing, cure or transformation. What we offer is a properly structured week or two of real rest and real practice, described accurately so that nobody arrives disappointed.

What a week at a wellness retreat actually does — the mechanism

We would rather give you the reasons than the adjectives.

Sleep debt is repaid over consecutive nights. Accumulated sleep loss does not clear in one long Saturday. It needs several consecutive nights of adequate, undisturbed sleep — which is exactly why seven days does something a weekend cannot, and why the early nights are the main intervention rather than an inconvenience.

Cortisol normalises only when the demands actually stop. Chronic stress dysregulates your cortisol curve — the reason you are wired at midnight and flattened at 8am. It renormalises when the input genuinely stops for a stretch. Partially stopping, with your phone on, does not produce this.

Parasympathetic restoration needs uninterrupted time. Repair, digestion and immune function happen in the parasympathetic state. Months in sympathetic activation is what produces the digestion, sleep, skin and mood problems that tend to arrive together. Consecutive days of breathwork, rest and low stimulation is an unusually effective way to shift it.

Attention recovers when the interruptions stop. Constant notification fragments attention, and the fragmentation persists after the interruptions end. The silence periods and phone-free blocks are not symbolic — this is why focus feels different by day three.

Morning light resets your clock faster away from home. Away from screens and indoor mornings, early daylight and real darkness at night reset the circadian rhythm within a few days. For many people this is the most durable thing they take home.

And why the take-home plan matters more than the retreat. None of the above holds on its own — the nervous system returns to whatever it is given daily. The days produce a real change; the written plan is what converts it into something lasting.

What to bring

Loose comfortable clothes you can move in; something warm for early mornings and evening sittings — genuinely warm for Uttarakhand; a water bottle; slippers; shoes you can walk in; a notebook; and any medication you take.

Leave behind: work, the expectation of being reachable, and anything you would feel the need to photograph.

If you take prescribed medication, bring it and keep taking it exactly as prescribed. Nobody here will suggest otherwise.

Who you will be with on the retreat

Priyank Dadhich — Founder. PGDYT (Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy), naturopathy training, clinical nutritionist certified in modern and Ayurvedic nutrition. Leads the programme.

Yoga teacher — morning and restorative sessions, with modifications for every body.

Meditation and breathwork — sittings, pranayama and yoga nidra.

Counsellor — one-to-one slots during the retreat. A female professional is available on request.

Manorath Wellness is a naturopathy, yoga and wellness centre based in Jaipur. We are not doctors, we prescribe no medicines, we provide no detoxification, and where you need medical care we refer you.

Honest timeline

What usually happens
Day 1Restless. You will reach for your phone repeatedly. Entirely normal.
Night 1Often poor sleep — the body does not switch off on request
Day 2–3The schedule starts carrying you; you stop checking the time
Night 2–3Sleep deepens. This is where consecutive nights begin to matter.
Day 4–5Clear head, lower irritability, appetite and digestion settled
Day 6–7The practice feels like yours rather than something being taught
Day 8–14The second week: the new baseline holds rather than being touched
AfterStrongest in the first week home. What lasts beyond that is whatever you keep doing daily.

Wellness and spiritual retreats in India — your questions answered

Where is there a good wellness retreat in India?

Ours run in three places, each suiting something different: Pushkar in Rajasthan for stillness and a spiritual register, with the easiest travel from Jaipur and Delhi; Uttarakhand in the Himalayan foothills for the classical yoga and meditation setting, river and forest; and Udupi on the Karnataka coast for warmth, sea air and a food tradition well suited to retreat eating. We rotate through the year — mountains in summer, coast and desert in winter — so tell us when you can travel and we will tell you where we are going.

How long is the retreat?

7 days or 14 days. Seven is our minimum, and that is a deliberate choice: sleep debt is repaid across consecutive nights, and a weekend does not do it. Fourteen days is for people who are genuinely depleted or who want the practice established rather than just begun.

How much does a wellness retreat cost?

It depends on the location, the duration and the accommodation, and it varies through the year — so we quote individually rather than publishing a figure that would be wrong for most people. [Ask for pricing] and we will send one all-in figure with everything it covers listed line by line. Nothing gets added at the venue.

What are the upcoming dates?

Dates change through the year with the seasons and the locations, so we do not publish a fixed calendar that would go stale. Tell us roughly when you can take the time and we will send you what is running then.

Do you offer spiritual retreats?

Yes — and Pushkar and Uttarakhand both carry that register genuinely. Silence periods, early morning sittings, dhyan, mantra and sound where wanted, and places that have been used for exactly this for a very long time. No belief is required and nothing is imposed. If you want the spiritual side it is properly there; if you want only the rest, the yoga and the food, that is equally welcome and nobody will push you.

Is the retreat held at your Jaipur centre?

No. Retreats are always held away from the city — in Pushkar, Uttarakhand or Udupi — because leaving your own environment is the active ingredient, not a detail. Our centre in Jaipur is where the year-round consultations, yoga and meditation classes run.

Is it strict or relaxing?

Both, by design. The schedule is fixed because decision fatigue is part of burnout and being told what happens next is itself restful. But sessions are optional — sleeping through the afternoon slot is a legitimate use of your week.

Can couples come together?

Yes. Shared room, shared schedule, and genuinely unhurried time together, which is often the real reason couples book.

Can I come alone? Will it be awkward?

Very common, and no. The schedule means there is never an empty stretch to fill with small talk, and the silence periods remove any pressure to socialise. Tell us if you would prefer a single room or twin sharing.

Do you do corporate or group retreats?

Yes — a structured team reset rather than a conference with yoga attached. Yoga, breathwork, practical sleep and stress sessions, and a take-home routine each person can keep. Tell us the team size and the dates you are considering.

Is this a detox retreat? Will I be fasting or juicing?

No. We do not run juice cleanses or detox programmes — your liver and kidneys do that continuously and do not need a juice, and the weight comes back. Food is simple, seasonal, vegetarian and sufficient.

Is it a luxury spa?

No, and we will not describe it as one. It is a structured wellness programme in comfortable, simple surroundings. If you want a spa break, that is a reasonable thing to want and this is not it.

Is the yoga suitable for complete beginners?

Yes — most participants are beginners. Everything is scaled, chair versions exist, and seven immersive days teaches more than two months of weekly classes because you practise far more often.

Will I have to give up my phone?

For defined parts of each day — the silence periods and the sittings — not the whole retreat. Attention recovery is one of the real mechanisms here, and the people who resist this most tend to name it afterwards as what helped.

Can I come if I have a medical condition?

Usually yes, with modifications, and please tell us at enquiry — diabetes, thyroid, blood pressure, joint problems, pregnancy, recent surgery and cardiac conditions all change what we plan. Keep taking your medication; pregnancy needs your gynaecologist's clearance; and Uttarakhand's altitude is worth discussing if you have a cardiac or respiratory condition.

Can a retreat help with burnout?

Substantially — the rest, the circadian reset and the physical act of stepping away are exactly what burnout needs, and seven consecutive days is roughly the point at which it starts to shift properly. For clinical depression a retreat is not treatment and we will tell you so: see depression treatment in Jaipur. If you are in crisis, please call Tele-MANAS free on 14416 (24×7, Hindi and other Indian languages).

How long will the benefit last?

Strongest in the first week home, and after that it depends entirely on what you do daily — the nervous system returns to whatever it is given. This is why the written take-home plan is the real deliverable, and why we point people to Magic Mornings afterwards.
